Distance Learning
courses at Darton College are supported by the Instructional Technology and Distance
Learning Department (ITDL), the Darton College Library, the Georgia Library Catalogs, and
the Darton College Bookstore. 
Instructional technology is a growing field of study which uses technology as a means to solve educational challenges, both in the classroom and in distance learning environments. It is the theory and practice of design, development, utilization, management, and evaluation of processes and resources for learning.
Darton College offers a variety of Distance Learning options for students seeking alternatives to traditional classroom instruction. Students may pursue a variety of courses in the core curriculum and selected degree programs through Online courses, Channel 19 telecourses, and video streaming. Registration and Admissions for Distance Learning classes follow the same procedures as for traditional enrollment at Darton College.
Is Distance Learning Right for You?
Distance Learning occurs when the instructor and the learner are separated by time and/or location. Darton College offers a variety of distance learning options for students seeking alternatives to traditional classroom instruction. Darton's Distance Learning program has received national recognition from the National Council of Instructional Administrators for exemplary initiatives in the use of technology. Darton College currently delivers a variety of Online Classes, many of which are offered through GeorgiaOnMyline
Channel 19 Television Operations - Telecasts of selected credit courses are presented by Darton College on Channel 19 in the local Albany, GA cable viewing area. Typically, seven college credit classesare offered each semester. Students who are unable to view the telecasts at the scheduled air time should tape them for later viewing. Classes taped by the Darton Television Production Team will be available for viewing at the Darton College Library for two weeks following the presentation date. Students may contact tele-course instructors via e-mail, telephone, in-person.
